Bengali students shine in Selective School Results!
Matraville Public School congratulates the Year 6 students who were accepted to selective High Schools (10% of Year 6). As the Bengali Community Teacher, it gives me great pleasure to remark that all of these successful applicants were Bengali students!

We congratulate Abida Aura (St George Girls High School); Suhrid Sarker (Sydney Boys High School); Meherun Rahman (Sydney Girls High School) and Eric Cai (Alexandria Park Selective). Special mention goes to Fahim Hossain who is on the reserve list for Alexandria Park Selective and to a former student, Rahib (Sydney Boys High School).

Abida Aura's academic success started when she was awarded the Class Achievment Trophy in Kindergarten. Further achievments included various academic trophies and receiving first placing in the UNSW English Test in 2003 for NSW and the ACT. Her parents, Mrs Rahima Akter & Mr Mohammad G Mustafa share our sincerest pride in her efforts.

As do, Suhrid's parents, Mr Abdul Latif Sarker & Mrs Jahan Arju of his achaiements. Further, an especial thank you must go to all the students' class teachers and parents who worked hard to support these successful results.

We'll done to you all! We hope and pray for their continued success in the future.

Annual picnic of Cambelltown Bangla School, NSW
On 16th January 2005, students of the Cambelltown Bangla School and their guardians had a picnic on Stanwell Park Beach - about 60 kms from Sydney.
In addition to lots of tasty food and group conversations, there were cricket, some sprints and the fabulous waves of the Pacific Ocean for the students to enjoy. In the afternoon, after the tea, the day came to an end with a raffle-draw.

Some images from the picnic are published below. News and photos provided by Abdul Jalil.
